Thigh Lift
A thigh lift specifically removes excess skin and fat along the inner and outer thighs. The results are a more contoured look for your upper leg. This surgery is usually the solution for people who have undergone massive weight loss, where excess skin is an issue and this skin has lost elasticity. For patients where cellulite is an issue but the skin of the thigh still has good elasticity, liposuction is probably the better option. Dr. Verga will carefully asses your thighs and body to determine what technique will deliver the desired result. Thigh lift surgery can be performed alone, or as part of a more extensive body lift.
To avoid a scar in the groin, as it is frequently done, Dr. Verga likes to place the incision in the lower abdomen where the tummy tuck incision is located. He developed this technique while performing lower body lift surgery for patients that had experienced massive weigh loss.
If the patient presents with excess skin in a circular, horizontal plane, which is mostly encountered in patients following massive weight loss, an incision might be required medially and running from the groin to the inside of the knee. Excess skin and fat will be removed and the skin of the thigh will be lifted using either incision. No drains are used, but you will wear a compression garment for few weeks for support and comfort. Usually your results will be visible almost immediately, and they will continue to improve as your incisions heal and your swelling goes down.
Patients typically need to take 1-2 weeks for recovery, though this may vary.
