Arm Lift
As you age your skin loses elasticity and gravity starts to take over. Many women begin to notice the skin on the their upper arms start to sag away from the muscle. This sagging skin will wiggle or shake whenever you wave or move your arms and will not respond to diet and exercise. In the consultation, Dr. Verga will discuss the types of arm lifts and their benefits.
An arm lift, or otherwise known as brachioplasty, removes excess skin and fat deposits on your upper arms, leaving them with a more pleasing look. Dr. Verga tightens this loose and saggy skin to make your arm look and feel more youthful. Generally the scar extends from the elbow to the underarm, and sometimes on to the side of the chest.
To improve the quality of the scar Dr. Verga removes the excess fat using liposuction, minimizing the skin excision. In some instances, liposuction alone may be recommended to remove excess fat in the upper arms.
Postoperatively, Dr. Verga encourages the patient to wear a special, compressing garment to decrease the swelling and control the healing process and shorten the recovery period.
